Start with something small
You do not have to talk about difficult experiences. You might try “I’m not sure what to say”, “Can we talk about my day?” or “Help me think through one small thing.”
Choose how to take part
Before beginning, read the chatbot’s own introduction and privacy information. The source supports English and Ukrainian, with Charlie (steadier and more direct) or Mishka (warmer and more reflective). These are AI conversation styles, not people. Formal research access requires an enrolled participant code and a separately issued access PIN; general testing is a separate route.
Keep the conversation on your terms
You can ask for a shorter response, change the subject, correct a misunderstanding, or stop. A request is not a guarantee that the AI will respond as intended.
Phone access and settings
Open Frontier Companion in your phone’s browser. Where your browser offers it, choose “Add to Home Screen” or “Install app”. You can also keep using it in the browser.
In chat settings, the source provides language and companion selectors, “Mute voice”, “View remembered information” and “Clear remembered context”. Speech input uses the microphone to obtain text; permission and browser support are needed. On a shared device, choose the shared-device option so your code and PIN are requested again.
Testing and research participation
General testing and formal research are separate routes. Formal research requires an enrolled participant code and a separately issued access PIN. Read the information and consent arrangements for your study before deciding to take part.
You may stop using the companion at any time. Questions about participation or withdrawal can be sent to frontierpsychology@outlook.com. The study’s stated process and withdrawal window apply.
